Teaching & Mentorship

Teaching is where research becomes a conversation.

My students are trained to see their own cities as fields of study,

and to carry that curiosity long after they leave the classroom.

Across sociology of the Gulf, migration studies and urban society, the aim is the same: fieldwork before theory, observation before analysis.

01 Courses

Sociology of the Gulf, Migration Studies, and Urban Society: undergraduate and graduate seminars.

02 Teaching Philosophy

Fieldwork before theory: students learn to observe their own societies before they learn to analyse them.

03 Workshops

Regular research-methods workshops for early-career scholars across the region.

04 Mentorship

Supervising graduate research on migration, identity and social change in the Gulf.

05 Educational Initiatives

Building public-facing programmes that bring sociological thinking outside the classroom.
