Beyond the
Credentials
An academician and development professional whose work sits at the intersection of curriculum design, research strategy, and pedagogical innovation.
Two decades spent moving between grassroots development work and the academy, a trajectory that shapes how she studies people, policy and place today.
My career bridges academia and the development sector.
I have worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in India, taken part in a professional exchange with Women and Rural Economic Development (WRED) Canada, and led corporate-foundation initiatives on adolescent mental health and well-being. I have also contributed to consultancy and research assignments with the Department of Education, Delhi University.
Ph.D.
Sociology, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi.
18+ Years
University teaching across AUK and GUST (the Social, Behavioral and Allied Sciences).
Curiosity anchors everything.
- 01 Project Officer, UNDP Monitored projects and ensured their effective rollout across several Indian states, an intergovernmental balancing act that meant coordinating with government ministries, private consultancies such as McKinsey, and a wide network of NGOs and civil society organizations.
- 02 Human Development Report Multi-stakeholder collaborations that fed directly into the Human Development Report gave me a grounded, field-tested understanding of how policy meets people.
- 03 Into the Academy That grounding runs through my scholarship today. Sociology, social work, social psychology, and research spanning education, migration, gender, and culture converge in my writing and public discourse.
- 04 Migrant Memoirs My recent book, Migrant Memoirs from the Middle East, distills fieldwork among Kuwait's pink-collar workers into a compelling, human account of migration and labor in the Gulf.
